Las Cartas
One of the creative outlets I use to process and release my thoughts and reflections has been writing. Every week, I send a letter to our Thriving Chingona community called Carta para mis amigas.
These letters serve as a community journal, to show you that I’m not perfect, that I’m also coaching myself through life transitions, systemic oppression, and purpose-driven living. These letters represent our journey towards the lives we are meant to live.

Where is there an opportunity this week to replace fear with love?
The past week I have been pondering how many decisions are made from a root of fear. What a difference it would make to shift our collective thinking and action to spring from the life-sustaining source...love. We are all born with love inside of us.
What is available to you to ground yourself when you feel discomfort?
As much as I wish we could be in person together to share calming practices, I have been surprised by how much energy I am still able to feel from others far away when I connect through phone calls and virtual gatherings. I want to offer you a grounding exercise to support your desire for peace. I trust that our energy will connect whenever you choose to try it or when I am practicing it as well.
Where is there possibility in your life to remove pain and create space for freedom?
I hope you were able to enjoy some time for reflection and rest this past weekend. I kept it super lowkey at home. As the “Happy 4th of July” texts came through and filled my social feeds, I sat and reflected on the disconnect I feel to celebrating limited freedoms and also the ways in which we give up the freedoms we do have.
How does your self-care benefit community care?
My spirit was ready for friend time beyond my laptop screen. This week I made the drive to escape reality and live in a house with a few friends who have also been sheltering in various cities.
What part(s) of you need attention this week?
This year is pushing us to dream of a new world more beautiful than we have ever given ourselves time to envision. I want to connect with you and be in conversation about what we are learning about ourselves, other people, and who we want to be in the new world.
