About Michelle

Michelle is a trauma-informed coach, speaker, and workshop facilitator on a mission to support leaders of color to value their strengths, grow their confidence, build a clear vision for their life and leadership, and find ease to sustain as a leader for as long as they choose.

With a background of executive coaching, consulting, leading as an administrator in K-12 education, and serving as a nonprofit executive, Michelle has navigated what it means to be a leader in various contexts.

Over the decades, she has supported numerous leaders with consciously developing a personal vision for leadership, building self-awareness and courage to lead with an equity lens, and growing their sustainability by incorporating nervous system regulation into their routines.

Using her years as an educator, her doctoral studies, coaching certifications, and leadership experience, Michelle has a special gift of facilitating engaging experiences for people to step into their power and identify how they will live in purpose.

She has assisted organizations with being mission-driven spaces for staff and those they serve to have a healthy environment to be in relationship. Michelle will support your collective journey by reflecting on your vision and mission, asking empowering questions to help gain clarity, and supporting your organization to lovingly hold each other accountable as you move your shared vision forward.

Behind The Surge.

Michelle served as the Founding Executive Director of The Surge Institute in Oakland, CA, and still serves as a consultant to the national organization.

The Surge Institute is a national nonprofit organization dedicated to educating and developing leaders of color who create transformative change for young people, their families, and our broader communities. This is done by unapologetically changing the face of education leadership, building community among leaders of color, and diligently fighting for institutional change.
